Private Blog Network – Nissan Ariya electric vehicle (EV) will adopt Tesla’s North American Charging System (NACS) in the United States by late 2024. However, it’s still unclear if the Japanese automaker will provide the adapters for free or if there will be a cost.
According to The Verge, some electric models from brands like Rivian, Ford, and Kia offer Tesla supercharging adapters for free. While General Motors (GM) sells them separately.
Nissan has also announced plans to integrate Tesla’s NACS adapter for its EVs in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, the brand aims to release 16 electric models by the end of fiscal year 2026.
In addition to supporting Tesla’s NACS. Nissan has announced that the Ariya will also be compatible with third-party fast chargers through partnerships. With payment facilitated via the MyNissan app.
The Nissan Ariya can currently be charged at over 90,000 fast charging stations from Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo across the U.S.
As of now, this charging capability is not available for the Nissan Lea. Which still uses the CHAdeMO DC fast charging system.
