Tchatchoua, a Cameroon international, is known for his versatility and pace. He primarily operates as a right-back or wing-back but can adapt across defensive positions. His standout attribute is speed, and he was officially the fastest player in Serie A last season.
The Belgian-born defender clocked an average top speed of 34.88 km/h during the 2024–25 campaign. Wolves reported that he hit a top speed of 36.3 km/h, placing him among Europe’s quickest players. In comparison, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven reached 37.1 km/h, the fastest in the Premier League.
Tchatchoua began his career in Belgium with Charleroi, where he rose through the ranks before moving to Verona. He initially joined the Italian club on loan before making the switch permanent in 2024.
Last season, he made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting three goals. His attacking contribution and recovery speed made him a key figure in Verona’s back line.
Wolves have targeted young, athletic players during this transfer window, and Tchatchoua fits that model. His arrival is expected to boost competition for defensive places while adding depth in wide areas.
Wolves Strengthen Further With Fifth Signing of the Summer
Jackson Tchatchoua becomes Wolves’ fifth signing of the summer as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new season. The club has already made several significant additions, totaling over £75 million in transfer fees.
Jorgen Strand Larsen joined permanently from Celta Vigo for £23 million following a successful loan. The Norwegian forward impressed with his physical presence and link-up play. Fer Lopez arrived from Espanyol for £19 million to provide more options in attack.
In midfield and wide areas, Wolves secured Jhon Arias from Fluminense for £15 million. The Colombian winger adds creativity and flair. Defender David Moller Wolfe also joined for £10 million, enhancing defensive depth and future potential.
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has prioritized youth, pace, and versatility during this window. Tchatchoua’s profile complements the club’s high-intensity style and offers tactical flexibility, particularly in a back-three or wing-back system.
