Kalimuendo scored 18 goals in 34 appearances last season, helping Rennes secure a 12th-place finish in Ligue 1. He began his career at Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Rennes in 2022, where he tallied 40 goals in 113 matches.
Forest’s summer spending has now reached at least £140 million, with Kalimuendo being their seventh signing of the window. The club recently secured winger Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town for £37.5 million and Manchester City midfielder James McAtee for close to £30 million.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo had raised concerns over the squad’s readiness for European competition. The club is preparing to play in the Europa League this season after being promoted to the competition following Crystal Palace’s demotion to the Europa Conference League.
Despite his concerns, Forest opened the new Premier League campaign with a strong 3-1 home win against Brentford. Kalimuendo adds much-needed depth to the attack and is expected to compete for a starting role.
French Striker Aims to Make Impact in Premier League
Kalimuendo expressed his excitement about joining Forest and playing in the Premier League. “When I heard about the interest from Forest, I was honoured,” he told the club’s official website. “I had a good season last year with goals and assists. But I want more and want to reach a new level here.”
He also praised the atmosphere at the City Ground, stating he had watched games from last season and was impressed by the fan support. Kalimuendo said he feels ready for the challenge and is eager to contribute to Forest’s ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
The French international adds competition for striker Chris Wood and joins Brazil international Igor Jesus, who arrived from Botafogo for a reported £10 million in July. Kalimuendo’s experience at club level and his silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games provide further credibility to his potential.
