Woods made 82 appearances and scored 11 goals for Accrington, with his final outing coming against Gillingham on 2 August. He is currently recovering from a hand injury that required minor surgery and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks.

Woods began his career in Manchester United’s academy before moving to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Scotland. He later joined Accrington in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a regular in their first team.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson spoke highly of the midfielder. Stating that despite playing as a left wing-back for Accrington, Woods is best suited to a central midfield role. “He is a midfield player, left-footed, strong, and scored seven goals last season,” said Ferguson. “We feel he can add goals and assists.”

The manager also praised Woods for his versatility and attitude. “He is a good all-round midfield player who will play wherever you ask him to,” he added. “He has a great mentality and is definitely ready for the step-up.”

Woods Eager to Settle In and Make an Impact

Though currently unavailable due to injury, Woods sees this period as a chance to settle into his new surroundings. “I wanted to come to the club anyway, but after speaking to the manager. It cemented it in seconds,” Woods said. “I feel it is the right time to make the move and the right club to move to.”

He added that being out of action allows him time to focus on settling in both personally and professionally. “The positive aspect of currently being unavailable is that I can get myself settled, house-wise, get to know the players and the city,” he said. “Then, when I am ready, I can focus fully on the football.”

Peterborough United have endured a challenging start to the League One campaign, losing all three of their opening matches. They will be hoping Woods can bring stability and creativity to their midfield once fit. His goal-scoring ability from midfield and experience across different positions could prove valuable as the club looks to climb the table.

His signing represents a long-term investment in a young player with the potential to make a strong impact at the club.
