Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Thomason began his professional career after moving from non-league side Longridge Town to Bolton. He played a key role in Bolton’s promotion from League Two in 2020-21 and helped them win the Football League Trophy two years later. Last season, Thomason scored five goals in 46 matches while serving as Bolton’s captain, demonstrating his leadership qualities and consistency on the pitch.
Thomason expressed enthusiasm about his move to Wrexham, telling the club’s website, “I’m buzzing to be here and can’t wait to be a part of the journey.” He described this as an exciting time for the club and is eager to contribute to their ongoing success. The signing aligns with Wrexham’s ambition to strengthen their squad as they compete at a higher level under the management of Phil Parkinson.

Parkinson said, “We’re delighted to welcome George to the club and look forward to integrating him fully with the team during training this week.” Thomason’s arrival marks Wrexham’s fourth signing this summer, following the additions of goalkeeper Danny Ward, forward Ryan Hardie, and left-back Liberato Cacace, the latter acquired for a club-record fee from Empoli.
The club is also close to signing free agent forward Josh Windass, previously of Sheffield Wednesday, to bolster their attacking options. These signings reflect Wrexham’s commitment to building a competitive squad for their return to the Championship. Under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham has achieved three consecutive promotions, finishing second in League One last season.
